About Mariana
I am a Pilates teacher with a decade of experience successfully helping people at all levels to maintain, improve and enjoy their body through the practice of Pilates. By attentively observing the needs of each client, I use mat and machine based work to give my clients more joy in their movements. I understand how the principles of Pilates help achieve good alignment in functional ways and I passionately believe in the precise application of this practice.

I qualified as a Mat Pilates Teacher back in 2013 and have continued with constant education and training. I hold Master Mat and Studio certification. I teach the full equipment repertoire, also HIP Pilates (high intensity power Pilates). I have trained in scoliosis, osteoporosis, hypermobility, children, pregnancy and I am a lower back specialist. I'm further trained to include KCR (Kinetic Chain Release) and Hypopressive methods. Since an injury from practicing gymnastics when I was 12, I have been trying different methods to improve my scoliosis and low back pain. At the age of 13, I started yoga which helped. When I tried Pilates, it taught me to have deeper awareness of my body and accurate control before allowing my flexibility to explore its full range. This improved every aspect of my daily life as well as my yoga practice.

My approach as a teacher is to guide you to feel comfortable in your body. This applies not only in the practice of Pilates, that is the beginning, it translates to your favourite sport, looking after the kids, working at a desk, carrying the shopping, having a dance or any other kind of work and life activities. As a mind and body practice, Pilates uses movement and breathing techniques to give you helpful connection with yourself and your strength, with control and flexibility of your body.

As a sports person with many years of rock climbing, I found Pilates made my training less painful and more efficient. My performance improved and injuries became fewer.

What is Pilates?

Joseph Pilates developed the method called Contrology back in 1926. After his death the method became popular under his name.

The Contrology method was developed for complete coordination of body, mind and spirit. It aligns and builds the body uniformly, corrects damaging postures, improves physical enjoyment, stimulates the mind and elevates the spirit. If you faithfully perform suitable Contrology exercises only three or four times a week for three months you will experience noticeable improvements. Pilates practice will progressively introduce the fundamental principles: breathing, centering, concentration, control, flow, precision and alignment. You will find yourself moving more freely in your daily life.

What is KCR?

This is a hands-on body treatment to improve mobilization in the connective tissues (muscle fiber and fascia ). This technique can reduce pain and speed up recovering from injuries.

What is the Hypopressive method?

I teach hypopressive exercises which combine poses or movements with specific breathing patterns that amplify the benefits. Aimed at pelvic floor and entire core, this work also improves general body tone and core stability.
